Southernsway Hilling

Been partie (Had an official invite) to and evening/morning session with a local company… deep the Hampshire new forest… the fun and the fear…

Best part of two thirds of a mile - top to bottom.. Smooth enough surface for about one and three quarters of a mile… Dead silent as we roll in… It’s easy rolling to a sharp left hander (seventy five degrees).. Then straight.. Slight degrese in gradient…still rolling.. Comes to a right hander (nearer 90 degrees).. Then it starts to drop away from you becoming steeper… the surface by now is sketch.. Almost harsh in places with over hanging trees.. (Waters got into the macadam.. Nackerd the edges)
But you strill rolling.. Greater and greater speed is gained with a slight kink to left.. Your into it now…
Spot your line as the run decends into a natural drainage gully.. (Big)… with your speed gaining nearing terminal velocity.. The hill bottoms out.. And your left to breath as you come t a controlled stop halfway up the other side of the hill..

Controlled, entertaining runs.. (30 percent sketchy road… generally a very nice run)
Dodgey Snaps...

Most of either the S0 or BH Postcode are highly ridable... these cover Forest/Urban/Coastal...

South Coast England Spots/Runs

SouthswayHills....

This one an update on the runs and spots around the SO/BH postcodes... just remember kids.. skate park ettiquette rules apply... Klean spot.. Keep Spot...

Couple of shots from Southsway in the last piece.. Weird spot in the SO postcode.. around 4 miles inland.. not a splash of paint work in the road... 'Propper Job'.. downhillin...

Referin to the shots below... this one's around a mile fom Southsway.. still in the SO postcode... similar road surface.. clear edges.. reletivly shoddy central line painting.. all adds to the 'effect'... Anyway.. soo these are main roads.. and do not rekomend anyone unexperienced, or who hasnt read the previouse Southsway peice... just to get feel for it... Tiz very enthralling.. unlike anything else i found.. Good Clean Fun...

This ones barley a quater mile.. either way you hit it at what ever time rain or shine.. just superb... where as on the ZLB test hill (Previously mentioned).. around aquater mile of barley three year old tarmac.. prodigy through to bob marley can be heard for help...not the same for either Southsway or Ploughill.. a Hinderence from the music is not advised.. take it in pure.. especially in the early hours...

ZILVANLONGBOARDS - TravellingSect...

Again another enableing Set from ZILVANLONGBOARDS...

Not quite a Lear Jet.. but surley part of the Travelling Sect...  Very Pink!! Floyd.. Floyd

This ones all 'Light' Class... Previously spotted on here.. the decks a straight popsickle with extentails... Slight difference in this concept... the idea one can move freely around with a ride/sac combo...

Well i took em to task..

Had between 2-3 hours untill the headline act came out... the casualties (American) ...  had around 22 miles to cover aswiftly as you wished...

On train.. very smooth transition from rolling around.. to 'Packed-away' (Stowed).. once stowed it is as if you are traveling with any other reletivly light bag..

Set about a short three stop train ride.. all the usual social foepar's avoided.. bagg held up well.. moved through the carridges no trouble... rekonmended set-up for a student..
Board and bagg set (Stowed) is under 2 kilograms... very 'handy'...

Slipped the board from sak on arrival.. and rolled into the sunset...  made around 7 miles up untill this point... near 4 in 'Stowed'.. rolled around.. nearly another 4 miles.. very pleasent...

found the gig... missed both supports.. made the headline act.. thouroughly impressed with set-up.. really would rekomend it to young and'experienced' riders.. were able to negotiate people in numbers.. variouse surroundings.. Gig/Train/Cars...ect..

Rekomend the 'Padded' Travelliner set from ZilvanLongboards.. Purley as when 'Distance' means 'Distance'.. then comfort is reletively high on the agenda... i had the imaged 'light' sak... and leash... the leash is a cruitial purchase... this brings with it all the versatility one could ask for..
Having lashed the set in variouse ways for abit.. found one that rolled nice.. and would give me access to the compartments...ect..

Gotta 'Stress' this minor detail... The imaged set-up below.. like cruiseing a mono-ski.. im not made for popsickles.. and kudos to those who can.. only advantage i could see.. Easy stowage size... and ligh enough for the task at hand...

Another freestanding set from ZilvanLongboards...

Upwards of 1.5/2 kgs.. really handy.. well 'weighted'.. genuine investment...

ZILVANLONGBOARDS - ‘Bizmark Klass‘…SWS-Haulage edition…

ZILVANLONGBOARDS - ‘Bizmark Klass‘…SWS-Haulage edition…

1 x 12” Truck
2 x Independent 215mm
2 x pair wedge riser
2 x Alligator (50mm W - 70mm D)
4x OJIII’s (4.2mm W - 60mm D)
Specials:
1 x Extentail (280mm D - 200mm W)

Just as it reads.. As wide as you might like, yet long enough for competent travel…
Getting into the groove (as is the case with ZLBS)… Is an easy three mile task.. Upwards 2 -3 hours in session see’s a quaint ‘coach’ esk feel come to your ride.. With stance and pace to suit.. A great concept.. To travel freely with payload.. Other more efficient transport modes are out there .. Well this form is just for the keen, discerning distance rider… of whom just cruising about is paramount to an evening session.. Personally a kerb eight of 4 kilograms is enough .. Before considering anything beyond… Stiff ride that suits.. Handy for pacing out the flat or tucking for speed…
The board remains as in ZLB-SWS.. But the hardware moves..
With extension tails (Extentail) about the rear… the payload is relative to this setup.. With the Extentail providing a payload of up to 4 kilograms… this specific setup leaving a rolling piece with a kerb weight off nearly 6 kilograms…

The rear steer ‘Concept’ works with a few minor concerns…. Speed .. Once rolling will need a quite a pace to increase speed… with ‘Braking’.. The well known ‘Brakeboard’ Gizmo would be a worth with investment.. But besides that.. Rolling around as intended.. The common ‘Foot Brake’ Motion with suffice.. With extra pressure needed to haul up swiftly…
Also the truck width… A option to roll twin Trucks Over one foot on rear is on the cars… any more on the nose would be alittle to-much

Indy 215 (Pair) on the rear.. Really works.. Gives a lot of potential with other designs… the SWS set-up differs from the Haulage Edition.. With the latter having a shorter rear wheel span of just 30mm..
The SWS sports a wider 6mm.. Which is perfect for tanking around.. As is designed for…
Another neat ‘idea’ gone mad is each boards ‘Ability’ to stand-up straight on either Tail or nose.. The Haulage edition is no different.. Refer Fig. .. it looks sketchy.. But again works well.. This boards are awonder to discover of an evening…

A strong deck… Mid-Heavy weight… two Kilograms minimum…
Full grip top to toe.. With a neat Blue Piping ‘Effect’.. which surrounds the edge.. an idea to assist the rider in spotting their footing relative to the boards nose… The Blue continues around the base.. Along with the Pine stringers at 6.6mm wide.. Full deck length… The original SWS tail overhang comes in under one inch.. with a deck height (Highest point)… 100mm… with a deck ‘Clearance Height’ of 80mm… these figures are the same with the ZLBHaulige edition (Tail Overhang relative to specific Extentail Length).
Wheel span differs from the SWS (As previously described).. The Haulage Edition boasts a mean 492mm.. From front truck to (Inside) rear… sporting a full span of 501mm… just enough…
In order to secure your load… Straps and Ragdoos are available… these offer the rider peace of mind.. And helps with general stability.. Once lashed down (Ref timeline shots).. You can be sure of a secure ride.. be sure and secure ZLB

Again, and as is with the SWS model.. The Session series of ZLB Carriers complements this ride with ever the scope for customisation..

Free Standing... A Common ZLB Feature..

ZilvanLongboards - SWS -(SixWheeledSession)

ZilvanLongboards - SWS -(SixWheeledSession)

ZILVANLONGBOARDS SWS - SIX WHEELED SESSION DECK…

Real un-tethered Tanking… sums up this monstrostatie from the ZLB guys… this ones worth a look but chance a ride if you dare…
Upwards to 12”-14”inches in width.. Fully gripped madness…
2 x Independent 215mm
1 x Scrub ‘Skate Truck’ 12’ plus..
4 x OJIII’s
2 x Alligators
4 x Riser ’Wedge’
Hardware - Various…

Just a force of Motion once under way..
I’ve had this deck up, down and around the BH postcode over the last few days…
A little ‘Thrown Together’ in finish, not much in the way of a polished precision ride… all heart and cruising soul… a lot of fun in an afternoon.. Would air on the cautious side regarding the younger riders.. Only as it’s width and weight could over power the under prepared… besides those footnotes…
Very entertaining.. Thoroughly enjoyed getting in the groove with it.. Gotta what your toes on those massive hangers.. 12” plus - Close to, or over a foot in width.. Then some 8 -10 cm in wheel.. Leaves you a wide ride, with all the stability your could throw a board at…

I found the most response comes from the rear… twin Independent 215mmm with all four OJIII’s complementing, the ride height… at around 4 inches…
The nose is running a single MTB Truck.. With custom bearings enabling ’Skate/long’ board wheels.. And man is the width from these needed… just to hack a kurb, or step-up at speed.. The width, crossed with weight is justified… the concept behind this thing.. ranging from straight Tanking division, through to a ’Transported/Carrier/Cruiser’… With that MTB Truck laying down a solid footing to pace from.. The riders position is moved around the deck relative to terrain and direction… to take a kurb at pace.. Way back over the rear trucks.. And roll through it… If rolling into/over a kurb or step-up then ‘Pro’ middle to front weight distribution is key.. Able to rock back onto the rear trucks swiftly once up and or over said obstacle…
Between 1 and 2 kilograms in weight.. It’s not much of an easy travellers choice… would recommend a lighter design from the range for any real distance adventures… but I’m sure the persistence in you would push you through the relative obstacles of rolling this ride… and it would bring you home in due time…
Asked the guys where next for this ‘range’ - Travelling sect.. Larger, lighter wheels.. with a choice of truck width. and ride height.. with another nod to total customisation…. Custom Means Custom with ZilvanLongboards… Great fun.. Really interesting…

General discussion around the SWS has bowed towards the weight.. And general usage issues… having appeased the ‘weight‘ demons.. With - ’Give it 3 miles’ and ‘Never mosey home with-it under your arm’…

The usability.. on and off the street is turn for discussion like no other…
Personally.. It’s doable… given with some extended attention for a short while.. As well as chancing your route relative to destination… I have been comfortable with it both on road and off.. And were able to mosey some distance…

From the streets… ‘Way Too Wide’, and ‘No Tail… No Tail…’ is a common enough call.. Really have to be brave and persist to get the ride your after.. But critically.. You can find a smooth run with this ride…

The SWS is also available in 'Haulidge Edition'..
Along with the vast array of acompliments available..
